Mezcal Oasis Duna del Sol

Why Duna del Sol?

Duna del Sol takes its name from the Chipehua dunes, a little-known paradise in Oaxaca where the desert meets the sea. There, as the wind collides with the grains of sand, it creates a unique melody in the key of Sol—a natural phenomenon found in certain dunes around the world, transforming the landscape into a living stage. That mystery, where nature and sound intertwine, inspires every drop of our mezcal.

Duna del Sol Legend

Mezcal Duna del Sol was born from the legend of a maestro mezcalero who, after years of traveling across Oaxaca in search of the finest wild agaves, created his masterpiece: a mezcal with unique notes that reflected the very essence of Oaxacan land. To celebrate his creation, he carried the bottle to the dunes of Chipehua—his final destination—where the wind produces a melody in the note “Sol” as it brushes against the sand. Yet, a sudden gust of wind made the bottle roll away and vanish among the dunes, and despite his tireless search, the maestro never managed to recover it.

Years later, a traveler exploring the Chipehua dunes came upon a small oasis and discovered the green bottle floating at the center of the tiny pool of water. When the people of a nearby village tasted its contents, they recognized it as the mythical lost mezcal—an extraordinary spirit preserved by time and nature. This discovery gave rise to a legend that intertwined the skill of the maestro mezcalero with the mystery of the dunes.

Today, Mezcal Duna del Sol pays tribute to that story. By recreating the green bottle and the mezcal that was once lost in the dunes, it captures the purity of wild agaves and the magic of a place where the wind sings. More than just a drink, it celebrates the connection between land and nature, inviting all who taste it to experience the legend.
